This 250 square foot Artist's Studio located in Ballard replaces an existing dilapidated garage.  The project goal was to create a comfortable working space that would be filled with natural light and take advantage of the courtyard created between the existing residence to the south and existing workshop to the east.  High clerestory windows at the north provide quality natural light and privacy.  Large doors at the south and east allow an interaction both visually and physically with the courtyard while large overhangs minimize direct sunlight entering the space during summer months.
